Reconnect an account
Sign in again when a social account's connection expired or stopped working.
Social accounts stay connected for a while, then the network may ask you to sign in again. When that happens, posts cannot go out to that account until you reconnect it.
How to know
- The card in Connections says Needs reconnect.
- A post says "The sign-in expired. Open Connections and press Connect again." or "Instagram needs a fresh sign-in."
- A post says "The account did not give VDM permission to post."
Reconnect
- Open Connections in the menu on the left, under "Business setup".
- On the card, press Reconnect. If you do not see it, press Disconnect, then Connect.
- Sign in on the network's own page. Allow everything it asks for.
- Back in the app, the card says Connected with your account name.
- Open any post that did not go out and press Approve & publish again.
Other connection problems
- "Facebook did not finish connecting. Press Connect and try once more." Press Connect again and finish every step on the Facebook or Instagram page.
- "Your Facebook account has no Page VDM can post to." Posts go to a Facebook Page, not a personal profile. You need to manage a Page, then connect again.
- Instagram refuses? The account may need to be a business or creator account. In the Instagram app, go to Settings, then Account type and tools.
- The card says Coming soon. That network is not open yet.
- "This social provider is not configured by the site administrator yet." That network is not open yet. Send us a request if you need it.
Good to know:
- Connecting never posts anything by itself.
- VDM checks each sign in for real when you open Connections.
- After you connect Facebook, check Posts go to this Page. For Google Business, check Posts go to this location.
