Connect your own domain
Use your own web address, like yourbusiness.com, for your VDM website.
Your website can use your own web address instead of the VDM one. It is included with any website or plan.
If you already have a domain
- Open Website Studio and find Your own web address.
- Type your domain and press Connect it.
- Go to the company where you bought your domain and open its DNS settings.
- Add a CNAME record. Name: www. Points to: sites.visibledigitalmedia.com.
- Forward the bare name (yourbusiness.com) to https://www.yourbusiness.com.
- Back in Website Studio, press Check now to see if it is ready.
If you do not have a domain yet
- In Your own web address, type a name and press Check.
- You see Available or Taken, with ideas close to it.
- Buy the domain in your business's own name, from a domain company. You pay that company directly. VDM never buys it for you.
Good to know:
- The padlock (https) is made by itself. It usually takes minutes, and sometimes up to a day.
- You get an email when your domain is live.
- Your old visibledigitalmedia.com address sends visitors to your new one.
- Disconnect removes your domain from the website.
- Never pick a name that is another company's brand.
- Your website must be published first. See Publish your website.
